Choosing a license for your code on Github

I added licensing information to all my open source code on Github and Sourceforge after a request from someone who wanted to use parts of it.
Turns out if someone wants to use your code those licences that you keep seeing everywhere are pretty important. Even if it is just a small, apparently unimportant bit of code.
The person in question also provided me with a link that explains the differences between the various licences.
After some consideration decided to go for the MIT license.
Why MIT?
Because and I quote
It lets people do anything they want with your code as long as they provide attribution back to you and don’t hold you liable
. Sounds good to me at this moment in time.
Found Choosealicense.com to be a very interesting website.
